“Didn’t HEAR SH*T from you,” Kamaru Usman and Joe Rogan react to Jorge Masvidal demanding title fight against Leon Edwards

Jorge Masvidal has been open to a lot of setbacks on the internet for wanting to fight Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman and Joe Rogan have just joined the line. Masvidal, a UFC megastar by all rights, last fought at UFC 272 when he lost a dominated unanimous decision fight against former-friend turned rival Colby Covington. Overall, Masvidal is currently on a 3-fight skid. But both Masvidal and Edwards have a history of bad blood, which already builds up the fight.

Usman is the former UFC welterweight champion and former pound-for-pound king who lost his 170 lbs title in his last fight by getting brutally knocked out by Leon Edwards at UFC 278 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Usman has fought Masvidal twice and defeated the latter both times, the second time via a brutal knockout at UFC 261 in April 2021. Usman recently showed up for the second time to longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan’s podcast.

In the latest episode of the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE), Rogan and Usman talk about Usman’s experience of getting knocked out for the first time in his professional career at UFC 278, Usman’s roadmap as a fighter ahead, now that he has tasted the second defeat in MMA, PED accusations against Usman and much more. In the midst of all, Usman, who is most likely to get the trilogy fight next against Leon Edwards, talks about Masvidal jumping in to get a third UFC title shot.

“Like all this week they were saying- Oh Masvidal is pushing to fight Leon Edwards… that doesn’t really make sense,” says Usman. Rogan responds “If I was Leon, I would be like ‘where have you been!?’ * both laugh* ‘You punched me in the face four, five years ago, I didn’t hear s**t from you.'” Rogan is referring to the time Masvidal and Edwards got into a physical altercation backstage which left Edwards with multiple scars on the face back in 2019 after their respective fights at UFC London.

Usman also responded to UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier ending his back and forth against Masvidal because of the title fight argument with a picture of all the world titles that Cormier has earned throughout his combat sports career. Usman called Cormier’s response as ‘savage.

What do you make of this conversation between Usman and Rogan based on assessing Masvidal’s callout of Edwards’ fight? Who do you think wins if Masvidal ever gets to fight Edwards? Where do you put Edwards’ head-kick knockout of Usman amongst the greatest knockouts in UFC history? Where do you put Usman amongst one of the best welterweights of all time? Where do you put Masvidal amongst the biggest names in the MMA industry?
