Kamaru Usman reacts to Jorge Masvidal comments
Kamaru Usman cannot help but laugh off his rival Jorge Masvidal’s comments on his striking skills.
The Nigerian Nightmare has settled his rivalry against Jorge Masvidal with one of the cleanest strikes one would ever see. The welterweight champion still got flak from the UFC superstar for his striking skills. Masvidal believes that Kamaru Usman is still not elite on the feet with his striking. Usman reacted to the criticism on his Instagram stories.
Masvidal recently made an appearance on YouTube sensation, Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast and spoke about his rivalry against Usman. Jorge and Usman have met in the octagon twice and the fighter from Miami failed at the hands of the champion both times. Masvidal was knocked out by Usmanin the second fight with a highlight-worthy right hand.
“On the feet, he’s nothing special. He might have got me, but he’s nothing special on the feet. He’s not like a legit striker on the feet yet,” said Masvidal on the Impaulsive podcast.
Kamaru Usman laughs off at Jorge Masvidal’s criticism
Usman shared a story of Darren Stewart sharing the quote of Masvidal from the Impaulsive podcast. “For goodness sake give the Ooga some respect now eh eh” wrote Darren on his Instagram story which got Usman laughing in reaction. “Ooga” in Nigerian translates to “Chief” or “Leader”.
Masvidal, talking to Logan said, the only reason Usman managed to pull off the knockout was because of his threat on the ground. Jorge believes that if the threat of wrestling is removed, Kamaru would not be as effective on the feet. Usman and many other analysts would certainly disagree with that. Over time, the pound-for-pound champion has shown the world that he gets better every fight.
Kamaru is currently undefeated in the UFC and has a run of 15-0. What are your thoughts on Masvidal’s comments on Usman’s striking?
