Kamaru Usman was present at the octagon side during the main event of UFC 281 between Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira. The fighter was there to support Izzy as both of them share a brotherly bond.

Usman, like many others, was shocked as Pereira dropped Izzy in the final round via TKO and became the new champion. The fighter went to Twitter to share a heartfelt message to his and Izzy’s fans on a positive note. Usman mentioned that upsets like this are common in the fight business and things will only motivate them to do better. The fighter explained that he and Izzy will definitely work hard and will get to the top once again. 

He wrote: “There’s always turbulence before the breakthrough. This makes success so much sweeter. Champions never stay down. We always find a way to the top. What an amazing weekend with even more amazing people and energies🫶🏿🫶🏿 #blessed #ufc281.” The fighter also shared a few pictures of him with Izzy and Francis Ngannou who consider themselves the ‘Three Kings’.

When will Israel Adesanya get his title rematch against Alex Pereira?

Israel Adesanya was highly professional after the fight and took the loss like a true former champion. The fighter also mentioned that he is not demotivated at all and will give his best to bounce back and win the title.

During the fight, Izzy looked great and was winning the fight until he got hit with that deadly left hook. Given the caliber of fighter he is and what he has done as a champion, an immediate rematch with Pereira is not that unnatural. Even UFC president Dana White spoke about it during the post-fight press conference.

“I wouldn’t rule it out,” Dana White said when asked about an immediate rematch between Adesanya and Pereira. White also revealed how Izzy is always competitive and doesn’t back out from challenges. He said: “First of all, I was saying that this week and it’s the absolute truth, Israel Adesanya didn’t flinch about taking this fight. He likes to fight all the time. He took this fight. He wanted this fight.”

A rematch between the ‘Last Stylebender‘ and Pereira would definitely be something the fans will be excited about. It will be interesting to see how the UFC is going to handle this rivalry in the future.
