It’s disheartening I think, it’s disrespectful. I’m a two-time Olympic champion, a world champion, I’m a mother, I’m an advocate for survivors of sexual abuse, I wrote a book and I have a foundation. In that sense, it’s disrespectful that someone would even ask that question.

This was a day before UFC 299 was held. The incident unfolded when a fan posed an inappropriate question to Tsarukyan in Russian. He asked in crude terms about Tsarukyan’s intimate desires involving Harrison. Kayla Harrison was also present on stage.

Tsarukyan was caught off guard and initially hesitated. He ultimately chose to respond in an equally distasteful manner. He answered the question that left the English-speaking attendees bewildered. The Russian fighter brushed it off as a “stupid question” when asked to translate what was said. He left the true nature of the exchange shrouded in mystery for non-Russian speakers present.
