Kevin Holland will fight UFC debutant Michael “Venom” Page at UFC 299. In a recent interview, Holland seemed to have defended Page around criticism for his style. Here is what happened:
Kevin Holland recently did an interview with Brett Okamoto from ESPN. They previewed his upcoming fight against Michael Page and what Holland thought of Page. Kevin Holland replied:
I think sometimes with the style that he has, people probably discredit him a little bit. People hate to see flashy stuff sometimes you know. Hate to see things that you can't do right. Yeah, he might be better than people think. Pretty sure he's fast, pretty sure he has good power you know the way he's finishing people and stuff like that.Kevin Holland via ESPN
Holland is coming off a loss to Jack Della Madellana at UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs. Shevchenko 2, while Page is making his UFC debut after a successful run in Bellator MMA. Page was one of the most popular fighters on the Bellator roster, and he is known for his flashy striking style.
Meanwhile, Holland is a well-rounded fighter who is dangerous in all areas of the game. This fight is a big opportunity for both fighters. Holland is looking to get back on track while Page is looking to make a splash in his UFC debut. The winner of this fight could be in line for a big step up in competition.
Kevin Holland is confident he will knock out ‘Bellator guy’ Michael Page
Kevin Holland aims to defend his UFC turf against Michael Page, who is making his promotional debut after competing in Bellator. He has a 21-13-2 record in Bellator and is a semifinalist in the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix. Page has the most stoppage victories in the Bellator Welterweight division history with 10 wins, and the most knockout victories with nine.
Holland said in his ESPN interview that Page is not a “UFC guy.” He said if he wanted to fight Bellator fighters he would go to Bellator. Holland also added that after he smashes Page, he would hopefully go to a different league and do his own thing. He marked Page as just another kill on the hunt list and nothing more.
Kevin Holland and Michael Page will meet in the octagon at UFC 299 in Miami, Florida. The fight will take place on the undercard of Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera. It will be interesting to see who walks away with the win in this exciting fight.
