Kevin Holland is one of the most entertaining fighters on the UFC roster. Media refer to the thirteen-ranked welterweight contender as a real-life ‘Batman’ with reference to his heroics outside the cage. Cageside Press and BT Sports voted him the Fighter of the Year in 2020.
Holland will face Jack Della Maddalena in the UFC Fight Night 227 undercard. In the pre-fight media presser, they asked Holland about the delay in announcing the welterweight title bout between Colby Covington and Leon Edwards. “Trailblazer” replied in kind by saying he was not the one to talk about that. Furthermore, when a reporter asked why he was not worried about the belt, he said, ” Why are you guys so worried about the belt?”. He further asked why the reporter, who doesn’t even fight for the belt, was interested in it.
Kevin Holland is on a two-fight win streak. He defeated Michael Chiesa and Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC 287 and UFC 291, respectively, with both fights ending in a finish. He KOed Ponzinibbio and submitted Chiesa with a D’arce choke. Before that, he lost an exciting fight to Stephen Thompson at UFC on ESPN 42. Holland fought seven times in 12 months in the UFC, a record. It was from May 2020 to June 2021.
Valentina Shevchenko and Alexa Grasso headline UFC Fight Night 227. Grasso won the title in an upset victory over Shevchenko at UFC 285. Shevchenko was the first and only champion in the division before the defeat to Grasso.
Kevin Holland likes seeing Alexa Grasso as the flyweight champion over Valentina Shevchenko

Kevin Holland praised Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko. He even jokingly said that the flyweight’s have what it takes to beat him up. Holland leaned towards Grasso in the main event of UFC Fight Night 227. However, he was all praise for Shevchenko’s longevity in the division.
Valentina Shevchenko was a huge favorite in the fight against Grasso at UFC 285. Shevchenko was cruising to a victory in the fight when Grasso locked in a cunning rear naked choke. Grasso jumped into a choke after Shevchenko threw a spinning backkick. Before fighting at flyweight, Shevchenko fought at bantamweight, where she only lost to Amanda Nunes. Her title fight against Nunes was extremely close. The unofficial media scorecards were split on the decision.
One of the biggest fights that never happened in women’s MMA was the trilogy fight between Nunes and Shevchenko. With Amanda Nunes retired, the only other superfight available in UFC in women’s MMA would be Zhang Weili versus Valentina Shevchenko if the “Bullet” wins the title back.
