Kevin Holland talks about moving to 170

As he prepares for his second UFC debut in the welterweight division in his home state of Texas, Kevin Holland continues to make out-of-the-box fight announcements. Holland announced on social media that he will fight Tim Means at the UFC event on June 18 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.

He’s the less technically gifted striker, with (T)KOs via strikes in four of his last six victories, all of which have occurred since 2016. His power should translate well to a lighter-weight class, as he displayed in his divisional debut with a knockout of Alex Oliveira. Holland also has strong submissions and competes in grappling tournaments on a regular basis. If this one hits the mat, I’d give him the edge, albeit it’s a close call. It might not matter anyhow, with both boxers defending takedowns at a high percentage.

Kevin believes he saw his future in the sport. During the media scrum, he stated, “My first time popping shrooms and they say you see the future. I’ve seen the future. I’m going to be the f****** champ. I’m ready to f****** do it. It was out of the competition when I did it, so it didn’t f****** matter. I’m ready to go out there and do everything I’ve got to do. Put in the work, swim those extra laps, and ride the bike for those extra miles. I ain’t running, I ain’t no runner cause I don’t run from s*** but yeah I’m getting it done. I’m going to be that guy.”
