Dagestani fighters Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev are good friends with former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. A recent clip of the trio where Khabib and Islam were playfully teasing Usman is making its rounds on social media.

In the video, Usman is wearing a pair of black jeans that were ripped at the knees. Khabib saw this and decided to take a dig at Kamaru Usman. Thus, teaming with Islam Makhachev, Khabib began trolling Usman for his jeans.

Kamaru Usman had long wanted to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov, but was doubtful it would ever happen. However, after being signed by the same manager, Ali Abdelaziz, the head of Dominance MMA, they are now friends. They have however shared the octagon as training partners and have expressed mutual respect.

Khabib has often said kind words about Kamaru Usman. Back in 2022, Khabib said that he had a good relationship with Usman and that it was hard to watch Usman get knocked out in a fight. Khabib also said he was surprised and a little upset, and that Usman is the best fighter in the world.

Kamaru Usman and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s friendship was not an easy sight for many aspirational fans of MMA. Many had always longed for a showdown between the two champions, fueled by the height of their rumored rivalry back in the day.

Kamaru Usman lost to Khamzat Chimaev via majority decision at UFC 294 in October 2023. The fight was Usman’s middleweight debut, and he took it on 10 days’ notice to replace an injured Paulo Costa. Usman’s loss to Chimaev was his third in a row after losing the other two in title fights against Leon Edwards.
