“Who is more complete”- Khabib Nurmagomedov compares Islam Makhachev to champions Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski
Khabib "The Eagle" Nurmagomedov
Former UFC Lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov has made an Audacious claim about his fellow fighter and brother Islam Makhachev. Khabib was one of the most dominating fighter in the history of UFC and a claim by him can mean a lot, as many consider him the greatest of all time.
Khabib had an unbeaten record of 29 wins and zero losses. Khabib not only won matches, he dominated every single round of them. He lost only one round in his entire professional career. Khabib has victories over top lightweight fighters such as Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.
The Lightweight division after Khabib’s retirement has been very interesting. Charles Oliveira fought for the vacant belt and defeated Michael Chandler to become the new UFC lightweight champion. After becoming champion, Charles has successfully defended the belts 2 times against Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, respectively.
As Charles prepares for his next title defence, many fans and MMA experts assume Islam would fight Charles next for the Lightweight championship. Khabib Nurmagomedov has also supported this matchup frequently and in his recent interview with TMZ sports, Khabib has claimed that Islam is a more complete fighter than Israel Adesanya, Alexander Volkanovski and Charles Oliveira.
Khabib in his recent interview talked about Charles being dropped in his fights and also claimed that Alexander Volkanovski has no ground game. Khabib said: “Islam is the most complete fighter of today’s MMA. Who’s more complete fighter than Islam? Charles Oliveira goes down in his every single fight. Alexander Volkanovski doesn’t wrestle like Islam. They all have some issue, but Islam has everything: striking, wrestling, kicking, clinching, everything.”
“Leave me alone”- Khabib Nurmagomedov talks about his comeback
Fans and MMA enthusiasts across the globe have always been keen on Khabib’s return to the octagon. Khabib retired at the peak of his career after the sad demise of his father, who was also his coach. Khabib’s Father died due COVID complications, and this forced the fighter to take an early retirement.
Khabib has been asked multiple times about his potential return to the octagon, to which the fighter has always replied in a negative. In his recent interview with TMZ, Khabib talked about his retirement and said that UFC should focus on Islam instead of him. Khabib said: “10 years I was in UFC, I dominated everybody; I won the title; I defend them three times, but I’m finished. Please leave me alone. You guys need an opponent for Charles. Everybody knows his name, his name is Islam.”
Khabib announced his retirement after his win against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 and has already said that he has no plans to return to the octagon. The former champion has turned into a coach and coaches Islam Makhachev for his fights in the UFC. Khabib has also been focusing on establishing his own Fight promotion: the Eagle FC.
