“Only discipline and exercise,” Khabib Nurmagomedov helps train Belal Muhammad alongside Islam Makhachev for UFC 280
Khabib Nurmagomedov & Belal Muhammad
Khabib Nurmagomedov has turned from a legend to a pioneer of MMA which has become the ultimate driving force behind the upcoming competition in the sport. Instantly after Nurmagomedov’s retirement, he switched to becoming a coach for his former teammates Islam Makhahchev, Umar Nurmagomedov, Usman Nurmagomedov and many more. Khabib now also trains anyone willing to learn under his shed, including Belal Muhammad.
On Instagram, Khabib posted a post-workout group picture with the latest team he is working with and that involves Belal Muhammad alongside some already familiar faces in the association now. Both Muhammad and Islam Makhachev are going to fight next month at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi. Muhammad will face Sean Brady in the last fight of the prelims and Makhachev will face Charles Oliveira in the main event.
“Training is in full swing. We have a solid team here and everyone is getting ready to go wherever. And most importantly: we don’t have a weak one, we don’t also have a strong one, we also don’t have more popular or less recognizable. We have the principle of the senior and the junior here. The elders lead by example, while the younger ones obey and observe discipline. Only discipline and exercise,” Khabib wrote in the caption.

“Honor to learn from the best,” says Belal Muhammad talking about Khabib Nurmagomedov
Belal Muhammad also took to Instagram to post a picture where he is seen having a mid-training conversation with Khabib and writes in the caption: “Honor to learn from the best to ever do it 5 weeks I’ll be more than ready InshAllah.“ While Makhachev has finally got his much-awaited title shot in the lightweight division, Muhammad is also a couple of wins away to get one at welterweight.
Khabib retired in the year 2020, bringing an abrupt end to his career so early because of the loss of his father, late great Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, earlier that year. Khabib’s record after his retirement stood undefeated with 29 wins, 19 of them coming via finishes. Khabib’s record holds wins over the likes of Rafael Dos Anjos, Conor McGregor, Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier and many more.
Khabib was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame this year only alongside his teammate from American Kickboxing Academy, Daniel Cormier. Both Cormier and Khabib retired during the same year of 2020. Besides being a successful coach, Khabib is also the President of a successful MMA promotion by the name of Eagle FC. Khabib also holds ownership in various businesses involving nutrition and other fields. Where do you put Khabib amongst the greatest fighters of all time?
