Khabib Nurmagomedov lays out Islam Makhachev’s gameplan against Alexander Volkanovski and DARES him to prepare for the fight

Alexander Volkanovski and Khabib Nurmagomedov
Islam Makhachev shocked the world by submitting the former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira at the main event of UFC 280. With Khabib Nurmagomedov in his corner many believed this was bound to happen, and with the lightweight title in the bag, they’re now aiming for the number one spot on the pound-for-pound rankings.
UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski is the current pound-for-pound king, and after his last title defense against Max Holloway, he declared that he would move up a division to attain the status of ‘champ-champ.’ Dana White confirmed that Makhachev will defend his lightweight throne against Volkanovski next, and Team Makhachev has a message for him.
Khabib was talking to the reporters after UFC 280, and he laid out the game plan for Islam’s future clash against Volkanovski. He said, “Volkanovski can box. He have amazing experience. How many times he defended his title, everything. But, brother, this is like, Thai clinch gonna kill him. Because even if he know this, let him prepare this. How many months? Five months? Six months? This guy is doing this 20 years.”
Alexander Volkanovski finds Islam and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s confidence quite amusing

Volkanovski had to beat Max Holloway thrice to establish himself as the pound-for-pound king, and he is used to people underestimating him. Volkanovski is laser-focused on his next fight, and he finds Team Makhachev’s confidence quite amusing.
Talking about their corner on The Submission Radio, Alex said, “It’s funny because they think they are the only guys that have wrestled or something. Like we haven’t been training wrestling. Don’t think I am going to be worried about THAT takedown. I am going to train for that takedown, I’m going to get my instincts and reactions on point. But when I’m on my feet, I’m just focusing on landing big.“
While the fight is bound to happen in Australia, Islam isn’t afraid to take on Volkanovski in his backyard. His performance against Oliveira was out of this world, but he’ll need to push himself to the limit to prepare for Volkanovski. Volkanovski is known for building a perfect game plan for his opponents, and it’d be interesting to see him what he has in mind for Islam.
