Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khabib Nurmagomedov has retired for the combat sport but is still a very huge name in the MMA community. Khabib is one of the biggest UFC stars ever and is argued by many to be the “greatest of all time”. Despite retiring in 2020, Khabib has actively taken part in the UFC events and is currently the coach and ring side member of Islam Makhachev.

Khabib Nurmagomedov had an unbeaten record of 29 wins and 0 losses and was the most dominant fighter in the UFC history. Khabib only lost one round in his entire 29 professional fights and defeated top fighters in the lightweight division. The “Eagle” is now coaching and training with his fellow Russian fighter, Islam Makhachev, as Islam prepares to become the Lightweight champion in the UFC.

Unlike Khabib, Islam does not have a perfect record. Islam lost his fight against Adriano Martins at UFC 192 and now has a record of 22 wins and one loss. However, Khabib believes Islam Makhachev can be the greatest lightweight fighter ever and even surpass Khabib himself. Khabib, in his recent interview with TMZsport talked about the possibility of Islam becoming a better fighter.

Khabib said, “It’s possible you know right now it’s like this is a legacy fight for Islam. That is why I really want him to fight Charles Oliveira because he has 11 fight win streak and Islam has 10 win streak. If Islam beats Charles and then he beat fighters from the young generation, Islam can become the greatest lightweight fighter.”

Khabib said: “I hear they want to make a big show in Brazil in December. OK, December is good for Islam. They don’t want to go to Abu Dhabi? I hear Charles Oliveira’s coach say, ‘Come to Brazil.’ No problem. Send us location. We’ll go to Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, no problem. We’ll go there two weeks before fight, rent some big house, come with big team, make weight — not like Charles Oliveira — and we’re going to finish Charles Oliveira on his game, on the ground, on Brazilian land. We’re going to teach all fans what is top control, how we finish people. We’re going to take the belt and go back.”

Islam was booked to fight Beneil Dariush. however the fight was cancelled when Dariush pulled out because of an injury. Charles believes Islam show fight Beneil before fighting for the title. However, the former UFC lightweight feels Islam can become the new lightweight champion.
