There is no doubt that Khabib Nurmagomedov was one of the most legendary fighters in UFC history. He has made a legacy for himself that may never be beaten by any other fighter in the future. During his career, Nurmagomedov overcame many challenges that came his way. He recently appeared on the PBD podcast hosted by leading entrepreneur Patrick Bet-David. Nurmagomedov spoke on a potential return to the MMA in the way Michael Jordan made after his father died in 1995.

The return of Nurmagomedov has been eagerly awaited by his supporters and the MMA community. David mentioned a moment from Jordan’s documentary “The Last Dance” during the podcast. He referred to the moment in which Jordan is weeping on the ground while clutching the trophy he just won. Nurmagomedov stated that the scene “touched his heart” and that he will not return due to his mother’s wishes. He then said, “I think mentally we are close, maybe he is better and because I am his fan I think he is better”.

Nurmagomedov gave a very fitting answer to the question revealing that even if he wants to he wouldn’t return to MMA due to his mother. He has always respected his mother’s wishes and retired because she did not want him to fight anymore. Nurmagomedov fought Justin Gaethje in his last fight in the UFC and broke down in tears himself after his victory over Gaethje. It was the only fight that Nurmagomedov participated in after his father’s demise.

His wrestling skills, determined attitude, and dominance over his opponent are what have made his legacy what it is today. Even though he has shut down all claims of a potential return, fans remain hopeful for seeing “The Eagle” return.

Nurmagomedov has had a very private life and has never shown his wife or son in public. He has hardly even talked about them in any interviews. Patrick Bet-David asked him about how his relationship with his son is similar to that of his father and him. He also asked him if he would want his son to quit fighting on account of his demise in the future.

David asked Nurmagomedov if he would encourage his son to keep fighting or to retire if he passes away. Nurmagomedov replied, “I am going to let him choose but about professional life, I’m not going to force him. My father was a great coach and I’m not hungry to make my son a world champion”. He did emphasize the fact that his son will have to train in order to be strong in the future and have a family of himself.

Being a very private individual, Nurmagomedov rarely posts about his family life on social media. He has, however, expressed how much his family means to him and how they are his strongest support. Additionally, he has stated that he wants his kids to grow up to be decent people and to be proud of their background.
