“Not gonna say everything” – Khabib Nurmagomedov recounts the WILD STORY of Russian PM Vladimir Putin calling him after Conor McGregor fight

Khabib Nurmagomedov (L), Vladimir Putin (R)
Khabib Nurmagomedov is a name that most people in the name would recognize. Even though he is not associated with the bling that Conor McGregor exudes, the Russian is seen as a symbol of hard work and dedication.
The qualities named in the paragraph above constitute only the tip of the iceberg of the superlatives that can be used for the now-retired fighter. Another quality that he displayed for the most part in his fight against Conor McGregor was that of calmness before all hell broke loose, and he jumped the cage, attacked Dillon Danis and the two camps got involved in an almighty scrap.
Now, Nurmagomedov has revealed another fascinating event that took place after the highest-selling PPV in UFC history. He said (to the NELK Boys), “After (the) fight, he called me. I remember it was in (the) locker room in (Las) Vegas. My phone was off, they contacted father and they said, ‘Putin (is) gonna call you.’ “
Khabib also recounted what Vladimir Putin told him via phone call – “He said, ‘Congratulations, we are very proud of you, it was an amazing fight.’ I’m not gonna say everything! After that, we met in real life.”
The video of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s meeting with Vladimir Putin has over six million views on YouTube

It is a bit surprising that Khabib and Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s meeting with Vladimir Putin is so easily accessible to the general public – that too, on YouTube. However, who are we to complain, as MMA fans?
Nurmagomedov and his father met with the Russian head of state in 2018, after the former dominated Conor McGregor inside the octagon, and took the lightweight belt back home to Dagestan, Russia. In the video, the duo can be seen in conversation with Putin, who said, “I would like to congratulate you once more on the victory. And I would like to congratulate the father on bringing up such a good fighter.”

Vladimir Putin also discussed the post-fight scrap, saying, “I will also ask your father to not punish you very cruelly because you accomplished the main aim, you won, won with dignity, and (it was) convincing.” It did however seem like Putin gave the then-lightweight champion a light rap on the wrist, saying, “No matter what happens, we need try and avoid rashness like charging someone, regardless of what is going on.”

The video makes for a staple of MMA history, for fans new and old to enjoy for time to come. Even though we may not be able to witness Khabib Nurmagomedov fight in the cage ever again, his exploits will live on in his immense highlight reel.
