Are Khabib Nurmagomedov and Belal Muhammad related?
Nurmagomedov and Muhammad may seem an unlikely pairing seeing as they’re from two different cultures and corners of the world. However, what unites them is their dedication to their religion.
Moreover, they support a lot of the same causes, chief among them being Palestine’s fight for self-determination. Muhammad who is a first-generation immigrant from Palestine has been among the few people in MMA vocal about the suffering in that part of the world.
Belal was also among the very few who walked out of the tunnel representing the Palestinian flag, a few weeks before the UFC finally banned all flags from broadcast, citing the ongoing conflict in Russia and Ukraine to be the chief reason.
As a coach, Nurmagomedov has had a great run with his key focus being in Islam Makhachev and his effort to bring the belt back to Dagestan. Other notable students of his include his cousins Umar and Usman Nurmagomedov who are on unbeaten runs of their own in the UFC and Bellator respectively.
