A long-standing feud has simmered between Ali Abdelaziz and Conor McGregor. This animosity traces its origins back to the incredible clash between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. The hostilities escalated as McGregor not only targeted Khabib but also those in his orbit, including Abdelaziz.

Conor McGregor, often hailed as ‘The Notorious,’ held nothing back in his verbal assault, even leveling accusations that Abdelaziz had abandoned his son, Noah, in the past. These words left lasting scars. Recently, the 45-year-old reignited the rivalry by targeting Conor McGregor on social media.

@TheNotoriousMMA hey crackhead, how do you like this?

What makes this taunt particularly piercing is the caption Abdelaziz provided on his Instagram. He proudly proclaimed, “2 PoundForPound Kings from Dagestan”. This was a not-so-subtle reminder that both Islam and Khabib have held the prestigious Pound for Pound #1 position in their careers. However, this is a title that has eluded McGregor.

Following Islam Makhachev’s spectacular knockout victory over Alexander Volkanovski, many anticipated he would surpass Jon Jones in the pound-for-pound rankings. However, despite this impressive feat, Jones remained at the number one spot. However, Jones’ fortune took a turn for the worse when an injury compelled him to withdraw from his UFC 295 title bout against Stipe Miocic.

In the latest update to the Pound for Pound rankings, the balance of power shifted. Islam Makhachev now reigns as the #1 pound-for-pound fighter, a fact that Abdelaziz didn’t waste any time in showcasing.

In an interview with Red Corner MMA, Mendez acknowledged the intrigue surrounding the bout between Islam Makhachev and Conor McGregor. He emphasized the opportunity for Makhachev to continue what Khabib Nurmagomedov left unfinished, viewing it as a captivating endeavor. He also highlighted the financial allure of this potential fight.

I see that as a fight that would be interesting for Islam…He gets to come back and get on the same journey that Khabib did. It’s a great payday for Islam. I think it’s great if Islam wants it…
Javier Mendez

However, Mendez deemed that striving for the welterweight title could be a more effective means of crafting Islam’s desired legacy. He was convinced that defeating Conor McGregor might not contribute significantly to the type of legacy Makhachev wanted. Interestingly, Mendez noted that there have not been any discussions or considerations regarding this potential matchup.
