Undefeated UFC sensation Khamzat Chimaev has kept fight fans on their toes with his prolonged period of inactivity. However, recent developments suggest that Chimaev may finally be closing in on a highly-anticipated matchup for UFC 294. Amidst all this, a video of the Chechen UFC fighter’s tiff with a beast surfaced on the internet.
Chimaev, known as “Borz,” has not found himself an opponent since 2022. Recent rumors of a matchup against former champion Kamaru Usman have been circulating for a while. The 29-year-old fighter recently expressed enthusiasm about the potential clash with “The Nigerian Nightmare.” However, the UFC has yet to announce a potential fight between the both.
While Chimaev and his team continue their training in Stockholm, they will relocate to Abu Dhabi one month before the fight. Meanwhile, a video of Chimaev tussling with a rope in Dubai emerged online. It is a popular tourist activity in Dubai. Even Andrew Tate, before his arrest, did the same activity with his younger brother. The game is actually a tug of war against none other than a liger who pulls the rope from the other side with its jaws. Many have tried their might but were unable t defeat the beast. Khamzat Chimaev, too, could be seen struggling as he tried out the game.
Despite Chimaev’s optimism, Dana White has consistently maintained that the Chimaev versus Usman showdown will not materialize. There have been concerns regarding the weight class. Dana White has refused to sanction a catchweight fight. Chimaev had problems with making weight in the past. He missed weight by seven and a half pounds during his previous contest at UFC 276. Nevertheless, Chimaev believes that facing Usman is his most logical choice.
If not Kamaru Usman, who else can Khamzat Chimaev face in the octagon?

Although no official confirmation has been made, there is a possibility that Chimaev’s return fight could take place at 185 pounds, with Jared Cannonier being a prospective adversary. This suggestion was put forth by Brendan Allen, who humorously admitted to already memorizing potential matchups.
Cannnier also mentioned the prospect of a fight, despite potentially having a prior commitment. Cannonier’s recent performances showcased his elite skill set and positioned him as a formidable contender in the middleweight division. Khamzat Chimaev has left no stone unturned. Chimaev has called out every fighter in the UFC welterweight and middleweight roster. He wishes to secure a fight against a worthy opponent.
As fans of the Chechen fighter eagerly await an official announcement, the anticipation builds regarding who Khamzat Chimaev will ultimately face next. His next fight is a highly-anticipated return to the UFC Octagon. Whether it’s the former champion Kamaru Usman or the middleweight contender Jared Cannonier, Chimaev’s next bout promises to captivate the MMA world astonishingly.
