Kamaru Usman had recently made some comments regarding his fight against Khamzat Chimaev. The Chechen was not happy with his remarks and responded with his own comments on X. The comments by Usman were a way for him to ignite a rivalry and secure a rematch with the Chechen.
Khamzat Chimaev saw Kamaru Usman talking about their fight at UFC 294. Chimaev did not like what Usman said about him. So he took to X where he shared a picture from their fight and wrote:

Henry Cejudo asked his fellow host Usman on the ‘Pound 4 Pound’ podcast if he saw something special in Chimaev. Usman replied saying that when he went into the fight against the Chechen, he had built him up inside his head. However, when he went into the octagon and faced him, he did not find anything impressive about him.
Usman said that it was not special and there was nothing different than what he had seen before. Usman believed that had he given himself a little bit more credit, the fight would have turned out to be different. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ expressed a desire for a rematch, and cursed himself for not having complete faith in his abilities in their first fight.
Is Khamzat Chimaev taking on Israel Adesanya as his next fight?
The highly anticipated Israel Adesanya vs. Khamzat Chimaev fight is not a confirmed matchup. Recently, UFC CEO, Dana White denied that the two fighters were fighting anytime soon. He said that the post was fake and that the MMA media that promoted it was the problem.
According to the rumors, the fight was originally planned for March. But it was later rescheduled to June at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event was pushed back because reportedly some influential figures in the Gulf state were not happy with the proposed fight lineup.
Chimaev is currently undefeated and boasts a seven-fight winning streak in the UFC. Meanwhile, Israel Adesanya will supposedly make his comeback early this year. ‘Borz’ has been pushing for the fight against Adesanya for a while now. It will be interesting to see if the UFC clashes with the two top middleweight contenders in the octagon.
