One of the most dangerous fighters in the welterweight division, Khamzat Chimaev, hasn’t been in action for a while. However, more interestingly, for the past eight months, the UFC sensation hasn’t stepped foot in the Octagon. Many fighting links were created for the Russians, but nothing became official. Chimaev has a 12-0 undefeated record, in which he registered an impressive 11 finishes.
The last fight of Khamzat Chimaev also lasted only 2 minutes and 13 seconds against Kevin Holland at UFC 279. Against Holland, without striking, he was able to get the finish via D’Arce choke. After that, the 29-year-old hasn’t been in action. The UFC claimed that Khamzat was not ready to accept the challenge. On the other hand, Khamzat Chimaev claims he never turns down a fight.
In the latest interview with TSN, Dana White revealed, “That’s on him though, he’s got stuff going on his personal life. That’s not because we’re not getting him a fight, obviously you know how it goes here, I talk about this all the time, we have to get guys three fights a year. So if we don’t get guys three fight a year we have to pay em. The only way that wouln’t happen, they have personal stuff going on.”
In 2022, Khamzat fought only two times against three official fight contracts in a year. The UFC president simply claimed that welterweight fighters have been avoiding the new matchups. Chimaev, who has registered his name in the UFC’s quickest turnaround, secured two victories in 10 days only at UFC on ESPN: Whittaker vs. Till. Now the third-ranked welterweight contender claims all the allegations are not real.

Chimaev replied to the claims of UFC president “I have no problems with fights, if they gave me a fight, I would have fought a long time ago, I did so many training camps and not one fight, the problem is definitely not with me, prepared in Dubai then to Thailand, why do I train so much if there is no fight, I don’t understand”
This is not the first time Chimaev has been accused of turning down fights. Earlier, former middleweight champion Alex Pereira claimed that ‘Borz” didn’t accept the challenge due to the last fight weight cut.
Rumors are already circulating that ‘Borz’ will compete against Paulo Costa at UFC 294. Nothing has been officially announced yet. Paulo Costa and Khamzat haven’t fought for the past nine months. Both are expected to face each other in October in Abu Dhabi.
