“Ate too much tiramisu” – Khamzat Chimaev TAUNTS Mini Khabib for commenting about his weight disaster at UFC 279

Khamzat Chimaev was going into the fight against Nate Diaz as the heaviest favourite across the whole card. Many fans speculated that Nate Diaz was being thrown into the fire in order to promote the upcomer.
However, his stock did fall down a little given he came in to weigh in at 7.5 pounds heavier than the allowed threshold for the welterweight division, which is 170 pounds (1 pound extra for non-title fights). Seemingly, Khamzat Chimaev did not care very much as he reacted by saying, “Not bad” and flipped off the booing crowd at the ceremonial weigh-ins.
Due to his mishap, the main event was unable to take place, and the UFC rejigged the main card. Unfazed, Khamzat Chimaev finished new opponent Kevin Holland within the first round via submission.
“Eating at the restaurant hours before weigh-ins” Khamzat Chimaev’s ATTITUDE QUESTIONED by Mini Khabib
Despite the weight fiasco, the show went on, due to the UFC’s excellent instrumentation of contingencies. The new main card lineup looked something like this – Nate Diaz vs Tony Ferguson, Khamzat Chimaev vs Kevin Holland, Li Jingliang vs Daniel Rodriguez.
Although Chimaev did himself cause some of his stock to drop, it did not seem to bother him too much, as he did what he always does – he mauled the vulnerable Kevin Holland from the get-go, shooting for the takedown in the very first few seconds, hardly standing up and trading blows. Within a few minutes of Chimaev applying pressure, the fight was over.
However, as Joe Rogan perfectly encapsulated in his post-fight questioning of the fighter, the issue with Khamzat Chimaev currently is not how good he is, but, if he is serious enough to mount bonafide challenge to Leon Edwards’ throne. There have been many questions asked over missing the weight by such a large chasm, and now, a die-hard MMA fan, going by the moniker of Mini Khabib has brought the questions back again.

Her Instagram post reads, “Ran into Khamzat Chimaev He was hanging out at a restaurant for hours drinking sparkling water and (potentially ) eating the night before weigh ins and now Khamzat unfortunately misses weight by 8 pounds . I was worried all night about this when I saw it. I hope the fight still happens tomorrow khamzat was super nice to me and the fans but I thought it was so odd to see him not worried about water intake and possibly eating at the restaurant hours before weigh ins . #ufc279”
This brings to wide attention the lackadaisical attitude that Chimaev adopted, that has led to uproar among the fans. Chimaev replied cheekily to this post, saying, “I ate too much tiramisu, that’s why my fight been cancelled with Tony Ferguson five times.” While it may confuse people, what Chimaev is referring to here is a dig at the fan’s nickname. Khabib Nurmagomedov famously had his title bouts with Tony Ferguson cancelled multiple times.
Do you think Khamzat Chimaev will take his weight seriously to mount a real title challenge? And when he does, who do you think he will challenge, Leon Edwards or Kamaru Usman?
