“Would’ve KILLED him” – Khamzat Chimaev thinks it’s best for Nate Diaz that he avoided the fight at UFC 279
Khamzat Chimaev on Nate Diaz at the UFC Post-figth press confrence
In the aftermath of UFC 279, it seems as if Khamzat Chimaev is unfazed by being demoted to the co-main event and the fan’s criticism of his weight miss. Chimaev also stated that it’s good for Diaz that he didn’t fight him otherwise he would’ve been ‘killed’.
Originally Chimaev was scheduled to face Nate Diaz in the UFC 279 main event. However, after Borz failed to make the Welterweight limit the promotion made some last-minute changes and demoted him to the co-main event. He was scheduled to fight Kevin Holland in a catch-weight bout. While Tony Ferguson took his spot in the main event against Diaz.
Khamzat showed no regrets about his weight miss and flipped off fans booing him. In the fight against Holland, he made quick work of his opponent finishing him in the very first round. Like the majority of his fights, the Borz took zero damage in the fight.
He submitted Holland in the very first round via Brabo Choke to bag the win. Borz is now on a 6 fight-winning streak in the Octagon and is still undefeated in his MMA carrier. The Russian in his post-fight press conference stated that Diaz should thank god that he didn’t have to face the Borz.

Khamzat Chimaev thinks Kevin Holland was a way tougher opponent than Nate Diaz
In the post-fight press conference, Khamzat stated that he was unfazed by the fans booing him during the fight, and he went on to praise his opponent. He further stated that Diaz is very slow and old and Holland was a better opponent.
When asked if he was disappointed that he didn’t get a chance to fight Diaz he stated, “Yeah but if I fight him like, I would kill him, You know, I would be in jail. So, maybe I have to be happy. So what now?”

Borz also stated that Holland was a better opponent than Diaz and he doesn’t understand why the promotion still keeps guys like Diaz. “You see Diaz fight, those guys? Old guys? I’ll never understand how they keep these guys. If Diaz and Holland fought, Holland would beat him, easy, I finished him (Holland) so easily, Diaz should thank god he did not fight me.”
After defeating Kevin holland in the co-main event Borz was all hyped up and even compared himself to boxing legends, Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali. It would be interesting to see what’s next for Chimaev after a dominant win at UFC 279.
