After UFC 296, Matt Brown delved into the future of Colby Covington. Brown criticized Covington for not living up to his pre-fight hype and for making “abhorrent comments” leading into the fight. Brown also said that Covington got a title shot that he didn’t deserve after sitting out for almost two years. 

Colby Covington is by no means in a good position right now. He has faced much criticism for his pre-fight antics at UFC 296 and his underwhelming performance later inside the octagon. Brown added to this and said: 

I think I speak for everyone, we don’t really care if we see him again or not. Just disgusting. Why the f*** would you say some s*** like that? You’re not getting in his head. That’s not going to change the fight. If somehow because you talked about his murdered dad, if that won you the fight, is that something to be proud of?"

Brown is an American MMA fighter currently competing in the welterweight division of the UFC. He has fought since 2004 and began fighting in the UFC from 2008. Brown was a contestant on the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter television series.

But many criticize him for being ineffective, finding his persona insincere. He has made divisive statements, including branding Brazilians as filthy animals and engaging in what some consider disrespectful behavior, contributing to the negative perception.

Meanwhile, Colby Covington recently made offensive remarks about Leon Edwards’ late father. He alleged that Edwards’ father was a gangster and murderer. This led to a heated exchange between the two fighters at the press conference. However, Covington stood by his comments despite the backlash. This incident sparked controversy and outrage against Covington on social media.

Colby Covington lost to Leon Edwards at UFC 296 through a unanimous decision. The judges awarded Edwards the victory after the champion dominated Colby for the better part of the fight. Covington contested the decision, attributing his loss to what he claimed was judges’ bias against him due to his support for Donald Trump. However, this was labeled as an excuse as a result of Colby playing a “character.”
