UFC Legend narrates astonishing story of Russian wrestler’s ‘passport sale’ to historic triumph over two Olympic champs at Wrestling championship
UFC legend Chael Sonnen talked about the 2023 World Wrestling Championship upset which took place after a young 20-year-old defeated two Olympic champs in a single day.

UFC legend Chael Sonnen shared his overview of the 2023 Wrestling World Championships. A huge upset came into play in this competition as heavy favorites Abdulrashid Sadulaev and Kyle Snyder faced shocking losses against the same fighter. An underdog emerged in the tournament named Akhmed Tazhudinov. This Russian native stunned the whole competition after presenting dominating victories against Sadulaev and Snyder. UFC legend Sonnen shared a piece of interesting information in regards to Tazhudinov.
On his YouTube channel, Sonnen shared his opinion on the wrestling upset. Sonnen said, “This boy(Tazhudinov) from Bahrain is actually from Russia who just teched Snyder in the very first round. This boy is in fact teammates with Sadulaev because he couldn’t make the team through Russia, he sold his passport. Now, he’s a Bahrainian singlet.” Sonnen further explained Tazhudinov’s highlights from the match.
Tazhudinov’s victory over the likes of Sadulaev and Snyder was one of the biggest upsets in the history of wrestling. In the video, Sonnen elaborated on the performance of Tazhudinov against Sadulaev. Sadulaev holds the position of No.1 pound-for-pound wrestler in the world. The only opponent ever to defeat Sadulaev was rival Kyle Snyder. Surprisingly, Snyder lost his match against Tazhudinov in less than three minutes. Further, one hour later, he beats Sadulaev in four minutes.
The Bahrainian National’s performance at the 2023 Wrestling World Championships was dominating. No wrestler has ever pulled off a dominating performance against Sadulaev, but this 20-year-old did the unimaginable. Reportedly, Sadulaev stopped competing after being down on points at 9-2 against Tazhudinov due to an injury.

The 2023 World Wrestling Championship just delivered one of the biggest upsets in the sport. Many fans had already imagined a potential final between Abdulrashid Sadulaev and Kyle Snyder. However, a 20-year-old Bahrainian wrestler shocked the world by defeating the tournament favorites.
Former UFC fighter Ben Askren, who has competed in professionally as a wrestler shared his reaction to this huge upset. Askren compared Sadulaev’s loss to Roberto Duran’s “No Mas” moment. Askren was left baffled by the fact that the world’s best wrestler left the fight while losing on a heavy score. Reportedly, underdog Akhmed Tazhudinov was leading the bout against Sadulaev with a score of 9-2. After which, Sadulaev waved off the match after succumbing to an injury.
Wrestling fans were shocked to see Tazhudinov’s sheer dominance against the wrestling great. No wrestling fans gave Tazhudinov a chance in this tournament. However, the Bahrainians showed up to this tournament like no other.
