“From a COCKY GUY to this” – Leon Edwards calls out Kamaru Usman for being “FAKE HUMBLE” after getting brutally knocked out
Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards
Leon Edwards is not buying any of Kamaru Usman’s “gracious in defeat” BS. The new welterweight champion believes Usman is playing a character trying to show the world he is humble after his disappointing loss.
Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards believes Kamaru Usman is not a humble person, it was the headkick knockout at UFC 278 that has made the Nigerian Nightmare humble. Edwards couldn’t be happier about his victory against Usman in his last fight to become the champion but he doesn’t understand why Kamaru is parading himself to be relieved now that he has lost.
Usman had never lost in the UFC until he faced Leon for the second time, two weeks ago. Leading up to the fight, Kamaru was more than confident in putting away Leon. However, after defeat, Usman has said he is happy for his rival and is in fact relieved that he lost the belt. Leon finds it fishy that the former champ is acting in this way.
Kamaru was very quick to show the world that he is in good spirits about his loss to Edwards. The former champ also went on the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast and was joking about his defeat to Leon. While many applaud Usman for taking the loss like a champ, Leon believes it’s all a character.
“I don’t believe it” – Leon Edwards comments on Usman’s humbleness
Recently after his huge win, Leon sat down for an interview with Ariel Helwani. The two spoke about how Leon is feeling after his amazing win. Helwani being Helwani, slyly stirred the pot by asking Leon if it was “weird” that Kamaru is being all jolly after his first-ever UFC loss at UFC 278.
“I don’t believe it. It’s weird, alright. To go from this cocky guy to ‘I’m happy to get knocked out, it’s a relief…’ I just don’t believe it,” said Edwards talking to Ariel Helwani in the BT Sport exclusive interview. “For me, I hope I never get to a stage where I am happy for a loss. The way he is handling it is the only way he could handle it,” added Leon Edwards.
“He couldn’t come out and be like salty. It’s weird. I saw the Joe Rogan thing…it’s weird how he is going along with it. I think he is overdoing it,” said Edwards after watching Usman’s recent interview with Joe Rogan. Do you think Kamaru is actually being humble or he is forced to play the “humble guy” after that defeat?
