“They f*cked up”- Leon Edwards opposed to Nate Diaz taking in Khamzat Chimaev in his sendoff fight

The main event of the Aug. 20 event, which takes place at Salt Lake City’s Vivint Arena and airs on pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN and ESPN+, is scheduled to feature Edwards and Kamaru Usman running it back. Before their second meeting, Leon Edwards claims that he hasn’t had any trouble figuring out where his mistakes occurred in the first fight with Usman. He is aware that wrestling was a serious flaw and is certain that he has made the necessary adjustments to his strategy to produce a different result. Edwards has had plenty of time to research Usman, who is presently in his third season as the UFC champion. He believes he has the right recipe in mind.

The UFC said earlier this month that Diaz and Chimaev will be the main event of UFC 279, which takes place on September 10 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Fans instantly criticised the matchup, calling it a shocking mismatch. A certain percentage of the public believes that the battle is unreasonable or even unfair, despite the fact that Diaz actively advocated for it if it meant the chance to test free agency.

Leon Edwards believes that by pairing Nate Diaz with Khamzat Chimaev for his final octagon encounter, the UFC isn’t doing Nate Diaz any favours. He concurs with that statement because he defeated Diaz in the same octagon at UFC 263 in June 2021 and received a unanimous decision. He believes that after more than 14 years on the roster, the organisation could have given one of the most well-liked fighters to ever enter its cage a matchup that was more style-friendly.

In an interview, he stated, “If I had to put money on it I’d probably go Khamzat – but I’d love Nate to get it done,” With regards to Diaz he expressed, “He’s done so much for the company and I wish they gave him a veteran, a nice fight to bow out to. To give an up-and-coming guy that’s had four or five fights in the UFC, and a wrestler guy as well – I think they f*cked up. They should’ve gave him a better fight. But I would love Nate to get it done. But as I said, if I’m a betting man I’d probably go with Khamzat.” Here is the said interview produced by MAC LIFE

With regards to Diaz’s future, Leon stated, “He is who he is. I’ve watched this guys coming up at 16 or 17 when I was getting into MMA. I wish him well in his career and whatever he wishes to do next. (Boxing) Jake Paul or wherever he decides to go.”
