‘He was never P4P GOAT’ – Leon Edwards shuts down Kamaru Usman’s claim to being the best pound-for-pound champion

Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman
Leon Edwards has never believed that Kamaru Usman was the best pound-for-pound champion in the UFC right now. “Rocky” wanted to emphasize this once again after his win over The Nigerian Nightmare at UFC 278.
At UFC 278, Kamaru Usman took on Leon Edwards in the main event. Leon, who was the underdog in the fight pulled off one of the most shocking upsets in the history of combat sports to dethrone The Nigerian Nightmare from the welterweight throne. Edwards handed Kamaru his first loss ever in his UFC career and also added a handful of other records to his name after the historic win.
Edwards’ headkick knockout is undoubtedly one of the best KO wins in a title fight. Leon wanted to make it clear that Usman was not the pound-for-pound best in the UFC and he took a moment in the UFC post-fight press conference to let that be known even louder. According to Leon Edwards, the 35-year-old Nigerian is not a master of all the tools in the sport of mixed martial arts to call himself the P4P best.
“I can do it all” – Leon Edwards backs his skill against the “pound-for-pound” champ

In the UFC 278 post-fight press conference, Leon doubled down on his claim that Usman does not deserve to be the best in the pound-for-pound rankings. There are high chances that Usman steps down from the #1 spot after his defeat to Edwards yesterday. “I didn’t build him to be this pound-for-pound GOAT everyone says he is. I’ve said it all week, I don’t believe that he’s the pound-for-pound yet. You have to be better than just wrestling and boxing, you know?” said Leon in the press conference after his championship win.
“I’m a mixed martial artist. I can do it all,” added Leon to boast of his skills in the sport. “I took him down in the first round, never been taken down before. So I broke the 100% record,” responding to the doubters who said Usman’s wrestling would be too much for the British welterweight to handle.
Leon’s win last night was one of the greatest nights in the promotion’s history and is exactly what makes mixed martial arts great. Leon, who was absolutely undermined in the lead-up to the fight, shut down all the haters with his amazing win.
