Luke Rockhold might make a comeback to the UFC in 2023 – if the terms adhere to his preference. The former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold speaks to Submission Radio regarding his upcoming fights, Israel Adesanya, and many other topics.
Rockhold, who had been working on his comeback after deciding against retirement last August, had been out of action due to shoulder surgery. However, the ambitious former middleweight champion has not lost the urge to compete with the best fighters in the division.
He has stated some “conditions” for his possible comeback, indicating that he wants to aim all the way to the top and not settle for easy fights. This determination and motivation reflect Rockhold’s ambitious character, always striving to be at the top of the division.
It’s important to note that Rockhold has faced setbacks in the past, including injuries that forced him to cancel scheduled fights, such as his recent back injury that led to the cancellation of a fight against Sean Strickland at UFC 268. This underscores how important it is for Rockhold’s potential UFC return to stay healthy and injury-free, as previous injuries have hampered his career in the past.
Luke Rockhold inspired by Israel Adesanya

Adesanya took back his belt at UFC 287 with a nasty “Poatan” finish after Alex Pereira had knocked him out at UFC 281. After falling to Pereira three times, including twice in kickboxing, Adesanya was eventually able to win.
This reportedly inspired Luke Rockhold who said, ” I’m sure I inspired ‘Izzy’ as he was younger and he’s inspiring me now. You draw inspiration through everybody. He was a fu**ing gangster.”
Rockhold returns to the ring later this month against former UFC veteran Mike Perry in the main event of BKFC 41, where he will make his bare-knuckle boxing debut. “I’m getting better, and I’ve got hands…”, Rockhold says. Rockhold referenced the Paulo Costa fight and said that he has proved his doubters wrong before and he intends to do it again. “Mike’s a tough kid…But I think I finish him”, Rockhold said.
