Manel Kape and Israel Adesanya had a heated exchange in the pre-fight press conference at UFC 293. Kape did not mince words when talking about Sean Strickland‘s victory over “The Last Stylebender”. The beef was originally with Kai Kara-France, and Israel Adesanya stepped in to defend his friend.

In his post-fight press conference, Manel Kape said, “You know, Karma is a b*tch,” when asked about Strickland’s upset victory over Adesanya. The Portuguese feuding with Israel Adesanya on stage was the most surprising thing before Sean Strickland‘s victory. Kape talked about Adesanya’s words on Strickland during the UFC 276 press conference, where Adesanya told Strickland to focus on his opponent. Similarly, Kape said the same when Adesanya stepped between Kape’s beef with Kai Kara-France. He also congratulated Strickland for the victory as he also trained at Extreme Couture.

Kape had a scintillating performance against Felipe dos Santos who was an apt dancing partner for the Portuguese. Kape, who had a topsy-turvy relationship with Kai Kara-France, was full praise for Felipe dos Santos. Their fight earned the fight of the night bonus at UFC 293. Justin Tafa and Sean Strickland earned the performance of the night bonus.

In his post-fight speech, he continued his tirade on Kai Kara-France. Kape wanted Kara-France or any other contender in the top 5 for his next bout. Kape has won multiple world tiles in Europe and was also the Rizin bantamweight champion. Dana White praised Kape and particularly his opponent, Felipe dos Santos during the post-fight press conference.

Manel Kape calls out the top contenders in post-fight speech

UFC 293 saw the rise of Manel Kape as a personality. Kape went full-on during the UFC 293 press conference which prompted even Israel Adesanya to confront him. The Portuguese lost his first two bouts with the UFC but has been undefeated since. He was scheduled to fight many other top contenders, but everyone pulled out due to injury.

Deiveson Figuerido, Alex Perez, and Kai Kara-France were set to face Kape in 2023. Kape was visibly frustrated with the pull-outs and wanted to get the title shot as soon as possible. In the post-fight speech, he called out the top contenders in the division, especially Kai Kara-France. Felipe dos Santos and Kape provided the best fight at UFC 293, excluding the title fight. Santos surprised Kape with his range and toughness, which made Kape stay diligent. Erick Nicksick, Kape’s coach, even acknowledged the toughness of Santos between the rounds.

Manel Kape is a formidable fighter. Kape is well versed in the countertriking realm and showed his footwork and elusiveness. He lost his first two bouts with the promotion mainly due to using footwork more than what was necessary. Kape is presumed to fight Kai Kara-France next. The beef is real and a fight with the Kiwi would be a welcome addition to the division, which already has notable rivalries between Brandon Moreno and Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figuerido.
