“I promise you that!” Marvin Vettori makes THIS PLEDGE post-UFC Paris loss to Robert Whittaker
Marvin Vettori
Marvin Vettori is a passionate fighter. Despite being a talented mixed martial artist, fans tend to underrate his skillset and performances based on his behaviour. And that cannot be attributed to a translational gap either – Vettori has an impeccable command of English, given that his first language is Italian.
Fighting out of Kings MMA, the gym that also houses Beneil Dariush, Vettori has recently become somewhat of a “one-to-watch” in the Middleweight division. Off of a much-respected decision victory over Paulo Costa, “The Italian Dream” slipped up in delivering a win that would’ve inevitably got him closer to the title once again, by losing to Aussie Robert Whittaker last Saturday.
Despite his failure, Vettori managed to cut a classy figure – taking the loss on his chin and saying words of praise for the perennial No.1 contender, Robert Whittaker. He said (In Italian), “Sorry guys, he was really an elite opponent. I love you all, make some noise even if I lost.”
“Gonna be champion one day” Marvin Vettori re-assures fans after tough loss
Despite losing in a convincing fashion to elite middleweight Whittaker, Vettori came out on Instagram to send out a message to his fans, ensuring them that he will not give up.
The post reads, “Starting from Mezzocorona and reaching the world top of MMA did not happen overnight. Against all odds and working steadily over the years, many have been passionate about and inspired by my path, where my determination has always prevailed. For this I thank you from first to last. What you have seen so far is not the top of the mountain. We will return to climb to conquer higher peaks. It’s a promise.“
Additionally, he wrote, “This game aint for the faint of heart. We got big shoulder, and we don’t quit. There is just one way and that is forward. I promise everyone I’ll be back better than ever. Hat off to Whittaker, good execution and good adjustments. Nothing change, we are gonna be champion one day. I promise you that.”

The post from Vettori speaks of his belief and confidence in himself. Additionally, he has nothing to be ashamed of – he lost to the man who has lost only to Israel Adesanya. At 28 years old, Vettori has age on his side, and it is quite possible that he hasn’t hit full stride yet – which he will, once he reaches 30. On top of that, last year, he defeated Paulo Costa assuredly in a 3-round fight of the night card. That speaks volumes, as Paulo Costa looked fabulous in his victory over Luke Rockhold. Who do you think is next for Marvin Vettori? Do you think he has a championship mettle within him?
