“It’s about time,” Marvin Vettori vouches for Beneil Dariush, calls him the best lightweight fighter

Beneil Dariush- Marvin Vettori

Beneil Dariush is one of the best lightweights but for his teammate and UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori, Dariush is on the top of that list. Dariush last competed in May 2021 against Tony Ferguson when he secured a unanimous victory at UFC 262. Dariush was next scheduled to fight in February 2022 against Islam Makhachev but unfortunately, Dariush had to pull out of the fight due to an injury.

With Dariush being away for a while for recovery, his chances of getting a fight by the end of this year in a division where the top is chasing a title or a money fight have profoundly diminished. Dariush has a strong case for being the #6 fighter in the UFC since he is on a seven-fight win streak with wins over the likes of Ferguson, Thiago Moises, Drew Dober, Drakkar Klose, Diego Ferreira and many more.

On Twitter, Dariush’s manager Ali Abdelaziz went to Twitter to say “@beneildariush this man now need a fight Dustin much respect or Chandler”

Marvin Vettori, who’s Dariush’s teammate at Kings MMA, quoted Abdelaziz’s tweet and said “It’s about time, one time he gets injured and all in a sudden he can’t get a fight forever and he gets skipped over. @beneildariush is the best lightweight give him a chance to prove it”

Dariush certainly does need a win or two before getting back to where he was, just a step away from getting a title shot. Here, Abdelaziz has suggested former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier and former Bellator MMA champion Michael Chandler’s names for Dariush’s next fight. Poirier last fought at UFC 269 losing his second title shot against Charles Oliveira and is seriously on the hunt for an opponent since the beginning of the year.

Chandler on the other hand is coming off a huge knockout win over former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson at UFC 274. Who do you think is the most suitable fight for Dariush’s return to the Octagon? Do you think Dariush will become a world champion sooner or later in his career?
