Holloway and Volkanovski will complete their trilogy at UFC 276
Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski are all set to compete in the biggest fight and first trilogy of their lives. While tensions are high, for the first time we have seen a highly animated Holloway from the media day scrums all the way up to the ceremonial weigh-ins. In fact Holloway had a little verbal tussle with the Aussie right before they walked out to weigh in front of thousands of fans.
Max Holloway lost his featherweight title via a unanimous decision to Volkanowski back in 2019. Right when Holloway seems to be untouchable, a relatively unknown contender comes out and steals the title right off him, hence it came as no surprise that the UFC immediately booked the rematch between the two.
In his second outing against Volk, Holloway would find more success early and in the eyes of many won the 5 round fight. However, the judges disagreed and Volkanowski again managed to etch out a decision victory. While Volk gained his first title defense, Holloway was stranded contemplating his place in the division.
Both of them would go to have impressive performances in their next two fights proving that the two are a notch above other featherweights in the UFC. Max had an excellent display of his boxing and toughness against Calvin Kattar and Yair Rodriguez, while Volk went on to display the full range of his skills against Brian Ortega and The Korean Zombie.

Before what could be their final face-off, Holloway and Volk were placed alongside in the tunnel at the ceremonial weigh-ins. Volkanowski shared a video of the two in the back on his social media handles.
The video opens with Volkanowski, who’s separated by a layer of security from Holloway asks him to, “Bring the Heat. “ Holloway whose back was facing Volk would start to rile up, spot jumping he exclaimed, “I am the fu*king heat brother, “ promoting Volk to ask him to, “soak up that energy”
Volk then said, “Soak up that crowd cause it ain gonna help ya” during which Holloway kept chanting “I am the Heat brother. ” Volk however stuck to his guns and reminded Holloway that talking isn’t going to help him come Saturday saying, “Hey you may as well today, Soak it up” with Holloway continuing to chant the same. Finally, before Max left the tunnel Volk shouted at him, “Your mind games have backfired baby” at which point Max waltz off to the stage.
When being interviewed by Joe on stage, Holloway went on to say, “This guy told me ‘bring the heat tomorrow’ jokes on him I AM THE HEAT! Let him know” to thunderous applause. The trilogy goes down this Saturday.
