Max Holloway is ready to take away the BMF title from Justin Gaethje at UFC 300. The upcoming BMF title bout remains the most hyped matchup on the card. Meanwhile, the Hawaiian fighter is also ready to break one of his most important records in his UFC career. Holloway talked about it in his latest interview with TMZ.
Max Holloway recently talked about breaking his previously held record of most significant strikes in this fight. The Hawaiian fighter cited Gaethje’s strong chin as the reason to break the record. He believed the fight might not result in a knockout, but he would keep on landing punches.
I hold one of the records for most strikes landed in a five-round fight. Gaethje is super durable man, the dude is durable, tough as nails so he might be the guy. If there's a chance to break the record, I think it'd be against him so I'm going out there full force man.Max Holloway via TMZ

Holloway is currently on a two-fight winning streak and has huge plans for the future. Max Holloway holds the record for the most significant strikes landed in a single fight in UFC history. This was when he landed a total of 445 significant strikes in his fight against Calvin Kattar.
Holloway’s aim to break the strike records remains admirable. His argument of breaking it against Gaethje feels impossible. One must note that Justin Gaethje is not Kattar. Gaethje has a better striking defense and a larger arsenal. Kattar’s output during the Holloway fight in 2021 was extremely low. Gaethje has a high output volume. As such, Holloway will have difficulty chasing his most strikes record in a single bout.
Max Holloway talks about missing title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov and lightweight title dream
Max Holloway has been one of the top stars in the featherweight division for a long time now. Holloway was supposed to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov and headline the main event of UFC 223 for the lightweight title. However, the fight never happened because ‘Blessed’ was not medically cleared.

Max Holloway recently sat down for an interview with Kevin Iole for Yahoo Sports. There, he talked about the missed opportunity to fight Nurmagomedov for the title. Moreover, he once again reiterated his desire to become the lightweight champion.
I believe things happen for a reason. If I can get my hand raised, there are a lot of fights that I can be in, one of them being the 55 champ, which I think will be a fun one. So, I ain’t got no regrets.Max Holloway via Yahoo Sports
The dream matchup against Khabib did not happen. However, if Holloway defeats Gaethje at UFC 300, he becomes a ranked contender in the lightweight division as well. Hence, a potential matchup against Khabib’s teammate, Islam Makhachev, could happen if all the stars align. A lot of things must go right for Holloway to challenge the lightweight champion. One among them is the upcoming BMF title bout.
