Mayra Bueno Silva is one of the top contenders in the women’s division in the UFC. She ranks #3 in the women’s bantamweight division and is a promising contender for the title. She recently gave an interview where she expressed how she wanted to change lives and help her community by becoming the UFC champion. Here is what happened:

In a recent exclusive interview with MMA Junkie, Mayra Bueno Silva talked about her motivation to fight in the UFC. Silva talked about how she wanted to change lives in her Brazilian community. She said:

I want to change lives. I think this is my motivation – to change lives. I want to change my community. For me, everything is about this. It’s not about UFC champion. It’s about Mayra as the champion will change lives.

She talked about how she experienced poverty and crime growing up in her hometown of Uberlandia. She was born in 1991 in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Silva emerged as a professional mixed martial artist, living and training in gyms in Campinas and São Paulo since 2015. Silva has said that she wants to help her community by winning her upcoming fight at UFC 297.

Silva boasts a professional record of 10 wins, 2 losses, and 1 no-contest. She made her debut in 2018 and since has had 10 fights in the UFC. Coming from humble beginnings, Silva has made a sizeable sum of money with her net worth estimated to be approximately $200,000. She even got married in 2022 to fellow UFC contender Gloria de Paula.

Mayra Bueno Silva on fighting Julianna Pena and Raquel Pennington

According to Mayra Bueno Silva, a fight against Julianna Peña would have created more buzz for UFC 297. Bueno Silva said everybody was ready for her and Julianna Peña to fight. She also labeled Pena as an easier fight for her. Julianna Pena ranks #1 in the bantamweight division of the women’s UFC rankings.

Silva is set to face Raquel Pennington in a highly anticipated Women’s Bantamweight Championship bout at UFC 297. The fight will take place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario. Pennington is currently the underdog in the fight, but she is in a favorable position to overcome the odds.

Even Silva herself acknowledged Raquel Pennington as a tougher fight for her than Julianna Pena. Pennington is a 35-year-old American MMA fighter. She competes in the women’s featherweight division of the UFC. Raquel Pennington boasts a professional MMA record of 15 wins, 9 losses, and 0 draws. Pennigton has also been in the UFC since 2013 and is currently on an incredible five-fight winning streak.
