Merab Dvalishvili is not happy with bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili. He recently talked in a recent interview about Sean O’Malley and other fighters wanting to be two division champions.

Merab Dvalishvili was recently interviewed by TMZ Sports. There he talked about the frustration of champion and fighters moving division and looking for easier fights.

I have big respect for the champion, but just yeah little bit, I'm a little bit sad. That is really really pressure I think how everybody wants to change division or call easy fights. This is UFC or this is something else like you know. This is UFC we should give respect.

Merab Dvalishvili expressed his frustration with Sean O’Malley for ignoring him after the main event at UFC 299. He said that he was “p*ssed” when O’Malley called out Ilia Topuria after the fight. However, Dvalishvili has not given up his title fight dreams yet. UFC CEO Dana White reportedly told him that he is next in line for the bantamweight title fight. The Georgian expects the UFC to give him the next title shot, even if O’Malley does not like it. Dvalishvili recently defeated former bantamweight champion Petr Yan at UFC Fight Night: Yan vs. Dvalishvili.

Meanwhile, Sean O’Malley wants to become a two-division champion by fighting featherweight champion Ilia Topuria. After defending his bantamweight title at UFC 299 against Marlon Vera, O’Malley called out featherweight champion Topuria. O’Malley asked Dana White to get him a jet to Spain. O’Malley also ridiculed Topuria’s attempts to dictate his next opponent. But he also acknowledged the UFC’s authority in pairing fighters.

Sean O’Malley has expressed interest in fighting Merab Dvalishvili next, hinting at a potential bout in 2025, which he suggests will be legendary O’Malley made the announcement on X.

Dvalishvili responded to O’Malley’s callout saying that he had been waiting for this for seven years. However, O’Malley had typed Merab’s spelling wrong and he pointed it out. He also mocked O’Malley for wanting another year to prepare to fight him, although ‘Suga’ later clarified that it was just a troll.

Merab Dvalishvili has consecutively won ten fights back to back since 2018. He is long due for a title fight. It will be interesting to see when these two top bantamweight contenders clash inside the octagon.
