Born in Miami, Jorge Masvidal is a welterweight competitor in the UFC. ‘The Gamebred’ is well known for his brilliant kickboxing skills and striking ability. Masvidal is responsible for delivering the Fastest KO in UFC history. It is no doubt that Jorge has made a name for himself on the UFC roster.
‘Scarface,’ directed by Brian De Palma is one of Jorge’s favorite movies. The fighter can be seen quoting the lines and referencing the movie everywhere. One of Jorge’s memorable moments is when he ring-walked to the Scarface theme in UFC 244. The fighter was also seen rocking the iconic suit from the movie in press conferences.
In the recent UFC 287 Embedded vlog, Jorge Masvidal gives a tour of his house in Florida. ‘The Gamebred’ shows off his firearms, and his coaches and also talks about his upcoming fight. But, one particular moment grabbed the attention of the viewers. As Jorge picks his ‘hardware’ he drops the most iconic line from the movie.
“Say hello to my little friend,” says Jorge as he points the gun toward the camera. The legendary line is yelled at when the shoot-out between Tony Montana and the goons takes place. Fans were delighted upon hearing the ‘Scarface‘ line but also concerned about the gun usage in the video.
When Colby Covington claimed the ‘King of Miami’ title after beating Jorge Masvidal
In UFC 272, welterweight fighters Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal went head to head. After winning a unanimous decision against Jorge, Colby Covington claimed that he is the king of Miami. “I’m the king of Miami now,” said Covington in the post-fight press conference. This was a slight towards Jorge as he hails from the sunshine state.
Despite being a Californian native, Colby felt like he needed the title ‘King of Miami.’ Despite beating him in the fight, Colby had further things to dig at Jorge. “Jorge needs to leave the city. It’s not big enough for the two of us. He needs to leave, or he’s gonna get sparked again,” said Colby during the post-fight press conference.
Jorge Masvidal is currently preparing for his fight against Gilbert Burns in UFC 287. Both fighters are training hard for the fight. Fans seem to be excited about the UFC 287 card as it is packed with fights with a lot of potentials.
