Michael Bisping has previewed Israel Adesanya’s potential showdown agaisnt former opponent in kickboxing, Alex Pereira for the UFC middleweight championship and seems to be impressed by the challenger’s fighting style so far. Adesanya, the current champion has defended his title five times and is #3 in the UFC pound for pound rankings. Adesanya last defended his title at UFC 276 against Jared Cannonier.

In the same fight card as Adesanya did Pereira fought last, when he knocked out Sean Strickland in the opening round. Pereira last fought Adesanya in a rematch in GLORY Kickboxing promotion when the former knocked out the latter. Pereira, the first kickboxer to hold two division belts simultaneously at GLORY, only had 7 fights so far in MMA but has made a massive statement across the sport, especially with his last fight.

UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping talks about if Pereira is ready to face the top competition on his podcast Believe You Me, co-hosted alongside UFC Light-heavyweight Anthony Smith.

“Styles make fights, I’ll tell you, he’s ready to fight Israel Adesanya,” says Bisping “And he has beaten Israel Adesanya, and when they fight I don’t think we’re going to see any wrestling. Maybe if you do, we’re gonna see it from Izzy [Adesanya], right. But I just think from a pride standpoint, he’s not gonna want to take him down, you know. And I don’t think he would do that anyway, so we’re going to see a kickboxing fight, concludes Bisping.

What do you make of Bisping’s preview of the title fight between Adesanya and Pereira? Who do you think wins? Do you think anyone else other than Adesanya can give Pereira a hard time inside the Octagon? As both Bisping and Smith talked about, Marvin Vettori is a very strong wrestler and so is former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. Do you think Pereira can defeat both these fighters?
