Michael Bisping shares heartbreaking statistic about Gun-violence deaths over Memorial Day weekend

Michael Bisping reacts to US Gun Violence statistics over the holiday weekend

Michael Bisping has been pretty open about his views on gun control. The former middleweight champion who was born and raised in England finds it difficult to grasp the gun culture in America now that he’s a resident in the country.

Previously Bisping has been hounded by MMA fans due to his support for gun-control advocacy, which even saw many asking him to “Go back where you came from” a common racist insult hurled against immigrants. As recently as the tragedy that took place last week at Robb Elementary in Texas, Bisping has been receiving similar backlash for his statements.

America has a reputation for being a country that has more guns than it has people and this high and easy access to guns means it always doesn’t end up in the ideal hands. Criminals and lonely teenagers alike can buy most types of single-round and multi-round rifles as soon as they are adults. This obviously translates into a high number of gun-related violence, the worst of which results in mass shootings.

Though Bisping has been seen taking arms training in the past he is a very strict advocate for gun control measures

The past week Americans celebrated Memorial Day, a day when they remember all those who have given up their life in the military service of the country. However, grief is not something that can stop gun violence and the same weekend that was meant to remember the horror of war and the lives lost in it saw 14 mass shootings and 156 people killed in incidents related to gun violence.

Michael Bisping took to Twitter to share this statistic advocating for common-sense gun laws across the US. He said, “This is crazy” highlighting how alarming it is that 14 mass shootings took place over a mere 3-day weekend. Bisping then reiterated the severity of the statistic saying, “That’s 156 families destroyed over the weekend.” labeling the data chart to simply be “heart-breaking”

While many US Nationals were in the replies to this tweet arguing about their second amendment rights and the lengths anyone will have to go to in order to strip them of their guns, anyone outside the US had the same reaction of wondering about how a country with such a massive gun problem can keep getting more of it.
