“Masvidal should have known”- Michael Bisping takes a jab at Colby Covington while blaming Jorge Masvidal for the assault

Jorge Masvidal & Colby Covington

Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington share one of the most heated rivalries seen in recent years. The pair have duked it out on social media, at press conferences, and even in the cage but even that didn’t seem to be enough. The intense rivalry ultimately crossed out of the bounds of the UFC and spilled into public life when Jorge Masvidal assaulted Colby Covington outside the Papi Steakhouse in Miami.

This act earned him a restraining order from Covington, served by a judge on the 29th of April. In the ongoing trial, Mavidal’s attorneys have requested for their medical records of Covington to be made available. As part of these new images have been released that show some damage suffered by Covington.

So far Masvidal has pleaded not guilty, claiming “mutual combat” while Covington plans to sue for damages. Masvidal, 37, posted a video of himself on Twitter, asking Covington to “show his face” in the immediate hours following the attack. This post has been wisely deleted in light of the growing trial.

The MMA community had mixed reactions to the incident, while some blamed Colby for bringing this upon himself, others, bashed Masvidal for taking the fight outside of the octagon. Michael Bisping recently invited Anthony Smith on his podcast, and they talked about this incident in great detail.

Smith believes Colby is way too invested in this trial, and that’s the reason he isn’t accepting any fight right now. He stated, “I do wonder if this Masvidal-Colby thing is the reason Colby is not taking any fights. Didn’t they come out and some of the records that got released or something, and Colby was saying he had some head damage or injury. That’s really hard to argue in court when you’re sueing someone for a lot of sh*t ton of money and then you can’t take a fight.”

Bisping, on the other hand, claims he never would’ve called the cops, but Colby was a victim of an assault, and he had every right to do what he did. “He was assaulted. Two combatants. Listen, you do you. Running to the cops is never my first thought. It’s not my thing either. Who was it that threw a boomerang at him? Werdum. He called the police then. Masvidal should have known,” Bisping stated.
