“PERFECT opportunity for Paul-” Michael Bisping thinks Jose Aldo ‘ticks all the boxes’ for fighting Jake Paul in boxing

Jake Paul- Jose Aldo

Last week, Jose Aldo bid adios to the sport he once dominated for a decade and called it a career in mixed martial arts. The 36-year-old Aldo retired with a career spanning 39 fights, winning 31 of them. Besides an impressive win rate, Aldo won 17 of his 31 fights via knockouts. Aldo was the last WEC featherweight champion and the first UFC featherweight champion, with a record for the most title defences in UFC featherweight history.

In a gesture of respect for “The King of Rio,” UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping released one of the videos on his YouTube Channel solely dedicated to Aldo. Bisping reflected back on Aldo’s dominance as the UFC featherweight champion and included some pretty impressive stats and names about Aldo’s wrestling and his Hall of Fame-like resume. In the latter half of the video, Bisping also talked about what’s next for Aldo and pondered if a fight with Youtuber-cum-boxer Jake Paul is next on the Brazilian’s list.

“I hope we don’t see him in any kind of freak show fights, Jake Paul, I mean this is a perfect opportunity for Paul, isn’t it? “ asks Bisping. “A man that fights at 145 lbs, recently fought at 135, a former champion, I mean come on, that ticks all the boxes… I would love Aldo see go out there and make some money in some boxing fights. I certainly think he could hang. “

Aldo trained only at one gym from the beginning to the end of his career in Nova Uniao under coach Andre Pederneiras. Aldo’s list of wins includes the likes of former multiple-time UFC title challenger Kenny Florian, American Top Team coach Mike Thomas Brown, UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber, former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, Chad Mendes, Marlon Vera, Pedro Munhoz, Jeremy Stephens and many more.

Aldo has fought first at featherweight and later dropped down at bantamweight where he reached far enough to have fought for the title of 135 lbs division at least once. Although Aldo still looks good enough to compete at the top level, he is still financially stable enough to call it a complete quits over combat sports. But many do believe that Aldo will make his next move into the world of professional boxing.
