“God of pillows” – MMA Twitter reacts to a MINDBLOWING statistic about Belal Muhammad’s lack of power

Belal Muhammad just upped his stakes in the welterweight division, with a closely fought victory over previously undefeated Sean Brady.
Going into the fight at UFC 280 against up-and-coming sensation Sean Brady, who had beaten the likes of Michael Chiesa and Jake Matthews, Muhammad was the +115 underdog. To make things more precise, what that means is that Muhammad, who has had more than 15 fights in the UFC, was seen as less likely bet to get the win.
Training with Khabib Nurmagomedov for the fight, it seemed as if the American was coming into the fight with the motive of proving his naysayers wrong. And, that is exactly what he did! Although he was rocked in the first round, “Remember the Name” showed immense grit under pressure to pull out his first finish in more than three years and send the Abu Dhabi crowd into utter raptures.
That being said, a recent statistic has appeared online that does the fighter’s recent win dirty. Despite having 16 fights in the promotion, Muhammad just has one other TKO on his record, which came against Augusto Montano in 2016. And the statistic about to be presented furthers the claim of Muhammad not having enough power to mint regular knockouts. The statistic reads, “Belal Muhammad is the only fighter in UFC history that has landed 1000+ significant strikes while having 0 knockdowns to his name.”
Given his wrestling base, it would be easy to assume that this stat is not very significant. However, at 34, having fought top competition at 170 pounds, one would assume that he had at least one knockdown on his resume. In contrast, lightweight Beneil Dariush, who is a salient wrestler as well, managed to knock down Mateusz Gamrot en route to a decision victory.
MMA Twitter divided over the significance of the statistic that puts Belal Muhammad’s striking to shame

Despite not having a single knockdown to his name, Belal Muhammad was able to finish Sean Brady on the feet. Hence, some fans on Twitter cited that as an exemplification of why this particular figure is nothing more than quiz trivia. On the other hand, some fans resorted to taking the humorous route, making fun of his lack of power. Find the best tweets attached below.

Under this post, fans did argue quite a bit about the issue at hand. That being said, Muhammad looked like a different fighter under coach Khabib Nurmagomedov’s tutelage – most importantly, his striking looked to be at a different level. In upcoming fights, could we see this damning figure changed by “Remember the Name”? We shall wait to find out!
