Paul Felder retired quietly after his loss to Rafael Dos Anjos. He stated that the burning desire to fight has subsided and he loved to spend time with his family. But, after the emotional sendoff to The Korean Zombie, Felder felt he wanted to fight one more time. This made him plot his comeback out of retirement. Now, he has submitted a drug testing sample to USADA (as per their website).
Paul Felder being back in the USADA testing pool has fans excited for his return. He was a fan favorite for as long as he fought. But, Felder was skeptical about his return. He stated that his returning to USADA testing was just a matter of ‘in-case’ and didn’t confirm his return.
I did it just in case [I do end up fighting again]. I’m getting old, and there might be some old dudes out there that might want to dust it up in six months. Other than that, I have no idea.Paul Felder (via UFC broadcast FN-226)
However, Paul Felder acknowledged that his age was on the wrong side of his thirties and it would be difficult for him to make a comeback. Also, he has to wait for six months before fighting as per USADA rules. With the termination of the USADA-UFC partnership, we do not know if this rule will stay.
Paul Felder has an MMA record of 17-6. His last two losses were split decisions meaning that he put on a fight up until the end but the victory was given to his opponents. He took his last fight on five days’ notice which showcased the courage of “The Irish Dragon”.
