Jeff has been involved in a recent controversy regarding his fight gear for UFC Vegas 56 on June 4. Jeff earlier this week, posted a picture of his UFC gear with pride colors on it and expressed his support to the LGBTQ community. Jeff received positive comments from various fans and he also expressed his happiness about it. However, many fans showed backlash to Jeff’s action, and he received various comments from fans across the globe.

Jeff talked about this on his social media account and showed his disappointment about the homophobic remarks that people used. After his victory against Zhalgas Zhumagulov on Saturday, Jeff again talked about the issue and discussed why he wore pride colors on his gear.

Jeff in his post-fight interview said: “I picked the colors because I thought it looked cool, and then also it supports a good cause. I’ll support anything of a community that’s been oppressed and ostracized for some time for something they can’t help. I’ll get behind any of that. It was not that long ago that there was school segregation, and that was like less than a person ago, something like Stonewall, that was like 50 years ago. That’s not even a whole person ago, man–this is recent s***.”

Pride month is celebrated in June to support the LGBTQ+ community for the hardship that they have faced and continue to face. Pride month was first celebrated in 1969 in the U.S. but it later spread to the entire world and is not practiced in every major country on the planet.
