Khamzat Chimaev is locked in to face-off against Kamaru Usman, the former welterweight at UFC 294. The middleweight debut bout is set at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Ahead of this, fellow Islamic fighters Belal Muhammad and Chimaev have joined up to pose with a flag of Palestine, amidst the flag ban rule by the promotion.
This was in lieu of the ongoing global crisis and open-state warfare in Palestine. The two had promised each other to carry the Palestine flag together back in 2022 on X.
I will fight you if you don't take the Palestinian flag into battle.Belal Muhammad to Khamzat Chimaev on X in 2022
Respect bro .. 'll bring a flag for you too and we both fight FOR Palestine.. I can’t bring the flag down to battlefield anymore even if I wanted to. But..Replied Chimaev to Muhammad
As of the latest, they have put old rivalries and callouts aside to do just what they had agreed upon. This was in disregard of the supposed flag ban going on.
Both Muhammad and Chimaev are ardent advocates for the Palestinian cause and usually divulge openly how they feel about it. Chimaev himself is quite outspoken on a multitude of global issues. He is almost often seen wearing branded or non-branded clothing with strongly worded political messages. He also usually takes up the helm of issues that affect the Islamic community.
Due to the stance put on by the two, fans of the MMA world have praised Chimaev ahead of his fight with Usman. The fans have called him a champion, both inside and outside the ring for taking up the cause. Other fans have expressed that they are the best allies the Palestinian cause can have.
Khamzat Chimaev inks new contract with the promotion, ahead of UFC 294
Khamzat Chimaev signed a new agreement with the UFC, ahead of his showdown against Kamaru Usman. Chimaev is a prominent name within UFC, with the ‘Borz’ having six wins. He now makes his middleweight debut along with Usman, at UFC 294.

Chimaev’s manager, Majdi Shammas confirmed that Chimaev has signed on an extension to his contract, last Tuesday. ESPN has also reported on the same matter at length. The ‘Borz’ still has two fights remaining on his original contract.
The exact terms of Chimaev’s extended contract are yet to be publicised. It is, however, common anticipation that it will result in the fighters’ continued presence in the promotion. Cementing his legacy on to that, Chimaev would try to score a win in the middleweight division books, this Oct. 21.
