“Hardest job in the WORLD”- Nate Diaz bashes critics for undermining Tony Ferguson’s contribution to the UFC

After defeating fellow UFC bonafide legend, Nate Diaz showed mutual respect to Tony Ferguson. Even in the post-fight presser Diaz defended Ferguson and slammed critics. El Cucuy suffered his fifth consecutive loss in the octagon in the UFC 279 main event.
Diaz was originally supposed to fight Khamzat Chimaev in the main event. This was his last fight in the UFC as he didn’t renew his UFC contract. He has plans to try other sports after a legendary MMA carrier. His original opponent Chimaev failed to make weight during the official weigh-ins and was demoted to the co-main event to fight Kevin Holland in a catch-weight bout.
While Tony Ferguson took his place to fight Diaz in a Welterweight bout in the main event. El Cucuy was on a four-fight losing skid and was looking to get back to the win column. However, he was unsuccessful in his attempt as he was defeated by the Stockton Star in the fourth round.
Although the fight was a decent back and forth between the two as El Cucuy battered Diaz’s leg with kicks and The Stockton star used his crisp boxing to score points. However, it all came crashing down in the fourth round as Ferguson attempted a takedown. The takedown was stuffed and then converted into a choke by Diaz to end the main event in 209 fashion.

Nate Diaz says Tony Ferguson deserves respect for his accomplishments in the sport
In the aftermath of his fifth consecutive loss, fans started to criticize Ferguson and suggested that he should retire. Although, his UFC 279 opponent disagreed with the critics. The Stockton star came to El Cucuy’s defence during the post-fight press conference and showed mutual respect to the former Interim champion.
Diaz went on to bash the critics and stated that he deserves some respect after putting on such great performances and staying at the top for so long. When asked about what he was talking about after the win with Ferguson. Nate stated, “Just Respect.”
“He’s been around a long time in fighting, fighting a lot of people, put on a lot of good performances, put on a lot of f**king crazy fights, took on a lot of damage. People can act however the hell they want to if they’ve done sh*t like that. To me, like that person is crazy, this dude’s doing that nowadays. I’m like whatever he put on enough wars to do whatever the f*ck he wants.” He further stated.
The Stockon Star concluded by stating that he respects Ferguson, “So it’s respect and I like anybody who can have a carrier that long especially in the UFC with the toughest fighters in the world, that’s the hardest job in the world. Thay guy should be a hundred Millionaire.”
