“He’ll re-sign,” Nate Diaz cannot command big dollars outside of the UFC as per “company man” Michael Bisping

Nate Diaz-Michael Bisping

Nate Diaz has become a personal brand that has indisputably reached a mainstream celebrity level, however, for Michael Bisping, the Stockton, California native still needs the UFC to hold his cash. Diaz is coming off finishing his final UFC contract with a legendary closing when he defeats Tony Ferguson in the main event of UFC 279 via a fourth-round guillotine choke. This submitted the end of Diaz’s more than 15-year-old UFC career.

Being the younger brother of MMA legend Nick Diaz, Diaz had the pressure to stand out from his brother’s shadow from the beginning, but he nailed the task a long time ago. Diaz began his UFC stint by winning the fifth season of The Ultimate Fighter series and then he went on to have his title shot in 2012 against then UFC champion Benson Henderson. Eventually, Diaz got to be known for his rowdy style of fighting that involved a lot of taunts backed by impressive skills in battle that collectively hurt his fighters mentally and physically.

In one of the videos on his Youtube channel, Bisping talks about Diaz‘s flawless victory at UFC 279 against Ferguson, attributing Ferguson for his contributions to MMA and much more. In the end, Bisping covers what is next for Diaz and according to him, he said beforehand that he would be called a “company man” for his opinion on Diaz’s next step.

“The reality is…[Outside of the UFC,] Diaz doesn’t have the opportunity to earn the kind of money he is earning… maybe one big fight with Jake Paul… so I think he will go and have that fight with Jake Paul… there’s this third fight with Conor McGregor out there that everybody wants to see… [but] that fight won’t materialise anytime soon and we will probably see Nate Diaz potentially resign with the UFC…” concluded Bisping since McGregor is in under contract with the UFC right now and the trilogy is therefore only possible in the company only.

What do you make of Bisping’s reaction to Diaz’s separation from the UFC and his thoughts about the latter’s next step? Do you agree with him? What avenues do you think Diaz has outside of the UFC? Of course, boxing with Jake Paul and his promotion is always there, but to Bisping’s point, are they enough to give Diaz the constant payday he received from the UFC?
