With many stacked Pay-Per-View cards to historic UFC 300, 2024 remains a huge year for the UFC. To add to it, the UFC recently announced booking the $2.3 billion ‘The Sphere’ for UFC 306. The event goes down on September 14 and would mark the UFC’s inaugural PPV at the venue. Earlier, UFC star Sean O’Malley called for to headline the event at the Sphere. Another star, Nate Diaz, expressed his interest in participating in the event.
In his latest tweet, Nate Diaz completely disregarded the idea of fighting in UFC 300 and wanted to fight in UFC 306. The reason is that the event will happen at the Las Vegas Sphere. As such, he shared an image of the venue on X and wrote:
I’ll be here. F**k 300.Nate Diaz via X
The UFC going to the Sphere on September 14 also meant it was scheduled as a special event for the Mexican Independence Day. As such, having Nate Diaz on the fight card alongside other Mexican stars would be a sight to behold. However, Diaz is no longer a part of the UFC as he left the promotion in 2022. However, he was willing to make a comeback and looked eager to fight at UFC 300. But, it never materialized. As such, he now aimed to be a part of UFC’s first event at ‘The Sphere.’
Nate Diaz previously fought Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 as his last UFC bout. Then, he went on to box the Youtuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a special event. Although he lost the bout, he earned a lucrative deal for his participation. Since then, Diaz remained inactive with rumors that he would fight Jorge Masvidal. But now, he welcomed returning to the UFC for UFC 306.
Jorge Masvidal warns Nate Diaz
Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz clashed heads in UFC 244 for the inaugural BMF championship. Masvidal won the BMF title via doctor stoppage after Diaz suffered a nasty cut to his eye. Although the Stockton native credited ‘Gamebred’ for his win, Diaz wasn’t pleased with the stoppage. Ever since, the call for a rematch was in the air. Now, after rumors of them competing in a boxing match, Jorge Masvidal warned Diaz.
Nate Diaz was a free agent now, looking for potential opponents. At the same time, Jorge Masvidal, who recently came out of retirement, was in search of viable opponents. This led to rumors of the former rivals facing a boxing bout. Now, ‘Gamebred’ suddenly threatened Diaz on X. He wrote something offensive and tagged Diaz.
This message from Jorge Masvidal instigated more rumors of his potential boxing match with Nate Diaz. However, neither party has confirmed the news. On the other hand, Diaz wanted to return to the UFC, leaving the fans in perpetual confusion about his next bout.
