New Images detailing injuries sustained by Colby Covington released as Jorge Masvidal’s assault trial intensifies
Colby Covington
Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington share one of the most heated rivalries seen in recent years. The pair have duked it out on social media, at press conferences, and even in the cage but even that didn’t seem to be enough. The intense rivalry ultimately crossed out of the bounds of the UFC and spilled into public life when Jorge Masvidal assaulted Colby Covington outside the Papi Steakhouse in Miami.
This act earned him a restraining order from Covington, served by a judge on the 29th of April. In the ongoing trial, Mavidal’s attorneys have requested for their medical records of Covington to be made available. As part of these new images have been released that show some damage suffered by Covington.
So far Masvidal has pleaded not guilty, claiming “mutual combat” while Covington plans to sue for damages. Masvidal, 37, posted a video of himself on Twitter, asking Covington to “show his face” in the immediate hours following the attack. This post has been wisely deleted in light of the growing trial.

The images show some bruising on Covington’s face with particular redness on his cheeks. There seem to be no cuts anywhere around his face however the fighter seems to have suffered some bruises on his lips as well. It also looks like Covington actually lost a part of his left incisor (upper frontal tooth) however it could be a result of prior injuries and not the assault itself.
The lawsuit filed by Colby also alleges damage was caused to his Rolex during the altercation, however none of the images released as part of the investigation show any significant damage to the watch.
Masvidal was initially very open about having conducted the assault with even his manager Malki Kawa, CEO of First Round Management bragging about the incident, however as the legal proceedings have picked up steam they seem to be distancing themselves from it.
The assault took place just 17 days after Jorge Masvidal lost a unanimous decision against Colby Covington in their grudge match headliner at UFC 272. The fight saw Covington land more strikes while using his wrestling to limit Jorge Masvidal’s options. Covington was also able to land 6 takedowns that saw him gain more control time on the ground.
