Nick Diaz “looks better” in training after an upsetting fight at UFC 266 according to training partner
Nick Diaz vs Robbie Lawler
UFC legend Nick Diaz might surprise the fight fans by taking a fight in 2023. Earlier this year, Nick’s younger brother, Nate Diaz fought his last fight on the UFC contract. Nate took on Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 and won the fight via submission. Right after the fight, the veteran immediately announced his retirement from UFC. However, Nick is still under UFC’s contract.
Fans have been making a lot of assumptions about his comeback and recently, Jake Shields made it clear that Nick is ready. When a fan on Twitter asked about Diaz’s next fight and fitness, Shields replied by revealing that Nick is currently in way better shape than the time he last fought.
He wrote: “Nick now looks far better than he did when he fought Robbie.“
Diaz is a huge superstar of the sport and has a lot of fans, however, in 2015, Diaz tested positive for drostanolone and Marijuana. As a result, he was suspended from fighting for five long years. Last year at UFC 266, Diaz made his comeback against Robbie Lawler but failed to impress his fans and looked sluggish. Lawler won the fight via TKO and everybody had assumed that it was Diaz’s last fight. But it seems like the 39-year-old is ready to get back into the octagon.

Nick Diaz took Robbie Lawler with a broken neck fight just for financial reasons
Earlier this year in August, Nick Diaz‘s head coach, Ceaser Gracie did an interview with The Submission Radio, where he spoke about Diaz’s neck injury that happened to go into the fight with Lawler.
According to Gracie, Diaz went into the fight with two ruptured discs in his neck. The only reason he took the fight is to get the fight purse. After the fight, Diaz had his operation and now he’s better.
“He got an operation and he put the titanium discs in his neck, so he’s feeling great from that right now. It’s like we’re getting the old Nick back, which is really good. So, now that that’s happened, we’re waiting for the doctors,” said Gracie about Diaz’s recovery.
Diaz’s comeback will surely bring a lot of hype among the fans as, despite his age, the Diaz brothers have a very loyal fan base. It will be interesting to see who according to UFC will be the best opponent if Diaz decides to come back.
