Paddy Pimblett is a UFC star and a lightweight contender in the UFC. During a recent podcast appearance, Paddy revealed what got him into MMA. He mentioned an iconic MMA showdown in 2009 that inspired him to get into MMA. Here is what happened:
Paddy Pimblett recently made an appearance on the Happy Endings podcast. Amidst one of their discussions, Pimblett revealed what got him into MMA. Speaking to Danny Duncan, Pimblett revealed:

Diego Sanchez and Clay Guida clashed at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale for the lightweight main event. It was a memorable fight in June 2009 that saw an intense back-and-forth between the two fighters. Sanchez and Guida faced each other with much aggression. The match saw intense exchanges and Sanchez landed powerful shots on Guida causing visible damage. A lot of blood was spilt in that octagon as a result of the fierce battle. Despite Guida’s aggressiveness, Sanchez secured the win via decision.
Paddy Pimblett made his amateur MMA debut in 2011. He then made his professional debut in October 2012 at the age of just 17. Paddy signed with Cage Warriors in 2013 and won their featherweight title. He later joined the UFC in 2021.

The UFC star had set a goal to stay under 200 pounds. However, he exceeded it during the holidays, leaving fans in disbelief. Paddy Pimblett underwent ankle surgery in March 2023 before UFC 296. He had aimed to stay below 200lbs post-surgery. Paddy completed his weight transformation, losing over 30lbs in the fight against Tony Ferguson.
Paddy Pimblett defeated Tony Ferguson via unanimous decision at UFC 296. The fight took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. This was Pimblett’s comeback fight and he did not disappoint. Paddy now boasts a professional record of 21 wins and 3 losses.
