Paddy The Baddy reveals the fight that prompted him to start training MMA
Paddy Pimblett is the hottest new thing in the UFC not from the caucuses. The fighter who has had European and especially English fans on the edge delivered in all of his UFC fights walking out with 2 first-round KO’s. Today Pimblett revealed the one bout that changed the course of his life from being “Faddy” to a “Baddy”
The 27-year-old made huge noise in the Cage Warriors organization, when he won the featherweight and lightweight titles in the organization, drawing an ever so obvious parallel to Conor McGregor. While Paddy has repeatedly said he doesn’t wish to be compared with the Irishman, the similarities can’t be ignored by fans. However the only difference between the two seems to be that Pimblett has been knocked down twice in his still nascent 2-fight UFC career, and despite him being able to recover, these things can be lethal as you move up in rankings.
Paddy Pimblett reveals Diego Sanchez vs Clay Guida blossomed his love for MMA
Today the young scouser took to Twitter where he revealed what started it all. On the anniversary of the TUF 9 Finale, The UFC Twitter account posted a short glimpse into the hall of fame inducted fight between Clay Guida and Diego Sanchez. The bout that can only be described as a high-paced phone booth brawl was what made a lot of early fans fall in love with the sport and everything it can be.
On Twitter he said, “This fight got me hooked on MMA” The young star from Liverpool was always a doer as he revealed that it didn’t take much longer for him wanting to emulate what he saw on the TV, saying, “I started training a few months later, as they say the rest is history”
While a great fight itself, the fact that Paddy fell in love with MMA due to this fight explains a lot about his wild style that resembles more of a brawl with technicalities. However the young star would start training at the age of 13 and even amass a record of 3-0 by the time he was 16. Good on him. What fight got you hooked to MMA?
